God Keeps His Promises

My pregnancy journey allowed me to embrace the changes from the inside out. It has deliberately given me the chance to realize a lot of things and one of which includes appreciating my parents even more! It also made me open up to the possibilities of staying at home, quitting work and sacrificing my own wants to give way to another human life. In 3 months time, our little one will be out and about and would surely change our lives overnight. I don’t know what to expect, however, I am excited with the transformation Paul Daniel will bring.

March 4 was my last day at work, a huge decision I had to make. I wanted to stay at home and rest while I’m pregnant but you can’t get it out from my system that I want to work. So, I applied online and looked for jobs and was eager every single day to find one. I registered through remotestaff.com, myoutdesk.com, odesk.com and onlinejobs.ph and was so surprised with the overwhelming responses I got from employers. They were impressed with my professional background, skills and online test results and wanted to hire me only that I have to set my standards a notch higher as well. That includes setting my expected salary, time of day that I will work and the kind of work I will do. Several employers talked with me via Skype, and there was one point where I was desperate to get the job offered to me so I can start earning, but my salary expectation and work hours weren’t met. Rocky told me to wait for more offers and I did but deep inside I was already itching to start to have MONEY.

I didn’t give up and I just can’t give up until last Sunday (March 16) when I opened my email, an employer DM’ed asking if I’m still available to work. She asked the following questions:

Here’s the email from my employer…

and another one of her responses…

I got another response from her Monday (March 17) and as I continued reading, I can’t believe what I am seeing and how she granted every single request I made! My quiet time that day taught me to trust in the Lord and not to worry and how timely God revealed himself to me through my employer. God came out like a genie in a bottle and granted my wishes outright without hesitations (only better!)

I. It’s not about what you can do, but what God can do!

“With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.” Mark 10: 27

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

“‘Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.” Jeremiah 32:17

Human effort alone would not suffice! I was confident enough that I will get hired given the background I have, skills and the online test results. But it was still through God’s amazing grace that I got this job. It wasn’t about me after all, it was all about God!

One time, an employer was able to read my blogs and told me that he has never ever encountered an applicant who openly talks about her faith in God. He was amazed at how boldly I was able to profess publicly my devotion towards God. At that point, I was humbled and was so ashamed of myself for taking the glory. It’s not about my talents and skills coz in the end, all the glory belongs to GOD who gives us the ability

II. Keep asking!

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24

The golden rule: ASK, SEEK, KNOCK

That alone speaks so much of how powerful it is to ASK when we need or want something. Just like a little child who would naively ask money or toys from her parents, so can we towards God who is our heavenly Father. He owns everything, why not ASK?

III. It’s not about the money, honey!

“Thus said the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:” Jeremiah 9:23

“But godliness with contentment is great gain.” 1 Timothy 6:6

“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” 1 Timothy 6:10

From the time I was jobless, Rocky and I began to worry about our finances and payables every month. Again, and for so many times in the past, God taught us to trust in Him in the area of our finances. What more? He even increased my salary from what I am earning previously. Woah!

IV. God’s timeline, not yours…

“I am concerned for you and will look on you with favor,” says the Lord. Ezekiel 36:9

“God guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.” Psalm 25:9

“A man’s steps are directed by the Lord.” Proverbs 20:24

My job hunting began March 5 and I was hired March 17—it didn’t take long for God to give me my heart’s desire!

As I look back at my short adventure, for the nth time I will say I AM TRULY AMAZED with God’s mighty hand working it’s way in us, in me. Even if I already know what to do, God would give me a situation wherein I wouldn’t know what to do, and the only thing I know is to ASK help from him. It all goes back to GOD! Thank you LORD!

How about you? Is there anything God did to you this week that you would like to thank Him for?

“Indeed, the Lord’s hand is not too short to save, and His ear is not too deaf to hear.”

Isaiah 59:1
