Three-mendous JOY!

Now Three…

Be gentle, be kind, be good, be nice, be generous and be wise. Words would not suffice for all the things I want to teach you. Time is not enough for me to teach you values that I want to impart to you. Parenthood comes naturally and it amazes me how your tatty and I can teach you things one at a time or sometimes at the spur of the moment. I am always reminded to be a better, kinder and loving person towards other people because of you.

Although I don’t want to admit this, I hate seeing you grow up so fast… (sigh…) but you have to and while you’re growing up I need to learn how to let go of you so you can go and fulfill your God given destiny. That you may do great things in life because you are a planet shaker and a world changer!

I always tell you I love you ever since you were still an infant, now that you’ve grown older it’s your small voice that I can hear whispering to my ears I love you too mommy. You’d plant kisses all over my face, hug me and ask me to play with you like there’s no tomorrow.

I have these memories kept in my heart forever, if only I could hold on to you forever my little one, my Paul! That’s why mommy likes to take lots of pictures to capture every milestone, every smile, every move, every laugh you make and every single thing that we do together. There’s nothing like the love a mother has for her child!

Now that you’re three, we will have more funny moments, do lots of adventures together with tatty (Legoland here we come!), we will spend more quality time and just do spontaneous things that we all can enjoy and remember for the rest of our lives. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for you in the future!

I love you Paul. Your tatty loves you and so many other people because you all make us happy. You’re a joy giver! Three-mendous joy. Jesus loves you so much!

Season of Giving

Christmas Time…

It’s the most wonderful time of the year again! Two more days till Christmas and I can feel the holiday cheer everywhere! People are busy (holiday rush) with parties, buying gifts, meeting up friends and so on. This is definitely my favorite season, I get to be with the entire family, I love buying presents, I don’t get tired looking at Christmas trees, lights and decors and not to mention the food! The endless partying made me gain a few extra pounds and speaking of fats, I need to lose them by 2017 (let me add that to my personal goals next year).

It’s the season of giving, we’ve been blessed by God tremendously and as our way of giving back, we had a little contest on Facebook.  Last December 11, my husband and I created a video announcing that we will be giving away one Starbucks Planner 2017. To win the planner all you need to do is to answer this question:

What is your greatest challenge this year and how did you turn that challenge into an opportunity for growth?

It was fun reading entries from people who joined. Deadline of entry submission is December 23, 2016. The winner will be announced on December 25, 2016.

Another activity we had this year was the shoebox project year 2 last December 18. This is an outreach program originally started by the Briges Foundation, founded by our Pastor Ian C. and his fiancee Nary. Last year, 100 kids were given gifts by sponsors and this year the numbers doubled. All thanks to the kind hearted, generous people who gave gifts to almost 200 kids this year.

A big surprise came the next day when I opened my Facebook account and saw a post of me and my husband on the Freeman Cebu newspaper front page cover. All I can say is, WOW Lord! It was only a matter of hours when I asked my husband about generosity and God answered my small humble request. God of Surprises indeed!

I hope you guys enjoy your Christmas and New Year with your family!

MERRY CHRISTMAS! 🙂

Go and Make Disciples!

When Pokemon says go, you GO! When God says GO, would you?

Today was my first time to play Pokemon Go. Although this game have taken the world by storm, I am personally not “lured”, not a fan and not interested to download and play it at all. My husband was driving when he convinced me to play it on his behalf so he can get more Pokeballs (or Razz Berries) everytime we come close to a Pokestop. These terms sounded so out of this world to me considering I have not watched Pokemon when I was a kid.

The submissive wife that I am gave in to my husband’s request with a few sermons (don’t play when you’re driving or you’re just wasting your time playing this nonsense). Though I was a first timer, I was surprised that it was actually easy to play with. It’s a child friendly game that even my 26 months old son can play it so well through one time tutorial.

I got curious why it was called ‘Pokemon Go’ but playing it I quickly got the idea that you really have to go, catch Pokemon, get cool items from Pokestops and explore the world!

This may seem like a good game telling you to stand on your feet and walk around, I can’t help but ask how many Christians do that nowadays in order to make disciples?

Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…

Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Psalm 96:3 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!

It’s easy to get lured with what the world has to offer but why is it hard for us to do the will of the Father? The command was simple, God said to “GO and MAKE DISCIPLES” and here we are walking around in circles, questioning God what does he want us to do? We always have an excuse whenever we get invitations to go to church, join small groups or reading the Bible, but watching movies, going out for a walk to play Pokemon Go and scrolling our Facebook news feed for hours doesn’t bore us.

God is only asking a few minutes of our time each day and we can’t seem to give it to Him. He wants us to GO and make time for Him in reading his word and He definitely wants us to GO and meet his people to fellowship with one another. Stop procrastinating and make time for the Lord.

Matthew 16:15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

Prayer:

Dear God, teach me to walk in your ways and do what you say. It is often hard for me to understand your will but in trust and obedience I will do as you please. I will not let earthly things take its toll in my life, I find no pleasure in them. I pray that love and compassion for the lost will take its place in my heart that I may go and make disciples in your name. In Christ name I pray. Amen.

He Reveals Himself to Those Who Seek Him

“I revealed myself…”

I do not like it at all when my toddler begins to whine instead of telling me what is it exactly that he wants. Every morning we remind him to say “good morning” before crying or if he wants to drink milk, he has to say “tatay or mommy, milk please” (which he does by the way). Though he’s only 2 years old, I believe he is capable of understanding what I am telling him to do and he is able to verbalize or communicate what he needs so I can give it to him.

We may not realize it but adults can be like toddlers too. We want a lot of things in life and we are hoping to get answers right away. If we don’t get what we want, we whine, complain, get mad, we blame and so on… When we grumble, we stumble and fall… Unbeknownst to us we are blocking God’s extravagant blessings in our life.

Matthew 7:7 reminds us to: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”

Isaiah 65:1 speaks the same thing: “I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation that did not call on my name, I said, ‘Here am I, here am I.'”

Whatever is it that you are going through right now, it could be a conflict with another family member, loss of a job, financial instability, maybe you’re stressed out with the people around you or having a strained relationship with your wife or husband, etc.

Friends you are not alone in this fight, God is with you–he is waiting for you to call upon his name. Stop complaining and start seeking the Lord! You need to shift your focus back to Him and prepare to receive God’s best. When you do, He will reveal himself to you in ways you cannot imagine.

Isaiah 59:1 Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear.

Prayer:

Father, teach me to walk in your ways and to trust in your unfailing love. May my heart desire for more of you and less of me. Reveal your glory as I continue to seek you and knock on heaven’s door. Your will be done, not mine. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen

Happy 2nd Birthday Paul!

Terrific Two!

I can’t believe you’re already 2! It took me months to gather the courage in writing this letter about how it feels like to be your mom and you being my son. I’m torn between wanting you to grow up or not. You’ve grown so much in the past few months and though I would love for you to stay as my baby forever, there’s no way I can do that–you have to grow up! Paul, know that you are loved and cherished… Tatty and mommy loves you so much that we are willing to give you the world but can’t. However, we are putting our trust in the Lord knowing He can give you all the desires of your heart and more and yes he can possibly give you the world because you are Christ’s inheritor, an heir to God’s kingdom!

It’s hard for me to believe that in a few more years you’ll be going to school and we would be apart for longer periods of time. Since you were born, we’ve been inseparable and I haven’t tried being away from you overnight (yet). I know that someday I will have to let go of you not only coz you’re growing up but to train you to rise up as a godly man this generation so badly needs. Right now I just want to spend more time with you and be with you for as long as I can.

Tatty and mommy loves taking care of you and no matter how exhausting it may get we will still choose to get tired than have somebody else do it for you and miss out on a lot of things while you’re growing up.

I could write all day long to let you know how much I love you but I hope that my hugs and kisses are enough to let you feel that I really do and that I am willing to lay down my life for you.

It’s cute when you follow every word we say, like when your tatty calls me babe and you’d call me babe too. I’m amazed how fast you can recall places and repeat words the first time you hear them. Like mommy, you are family oriented and it melts my heart when I hear you looking for your grandparents, cousins and other family members. I am pretty sure you’ll grow up to be a loving man someday and you’re future wife and kids will be so lucky to have you.

I don’t mind watching minions movie again and again coz I know they’re your favorite cartoon characters. I would even memorize the script by heart (only if I could) but can only remember a few lines to make you smile everytime we watch it. I would never get tired letting you ride on the train, small cars and visit Timezone whenever we go to the mall. It makes me feel like a young kid again, you make us so alive!

You remind me and your tatty to sit down, relax and enjoy life with you. I could tell you want to spend time with us and play always whenever mommy is doing something and you’d say “sit” so we can watch a movie together. You’re definitely a keeper my son! I am proud of what you are becoming… so sweet and gentle. I still want to do things for you but now you insist on doing it on your own, where’s my little baby who used to wait and cry whenever he needs something? How time flies…

Your grace before meals sounds too cute it makes me whisper a secret prayer of gratefulness to God for giving you to us! You are really an angel from above, a great blessing from heaven. Know that you are a joy to us and to so many people. You are our little comedian and you always make mommy smile. I love watching you dance together with your tatty and I hope you will never change! Please don’t forget our family hugs and family kisses, they’re so special to me and I pray it would be special to you too.

Don’t mind mommy whenever I cry, I get tired sometimes and have to let it out in order to feel better. You may throw tantrums and get moody but it doesn’t make us love you less, in fact we are taught to love you more. To assure you that our love for you is unconditional.

I love being your mom and your tatty loves being your dad. In short, we love being your parents! I am so proud to have you Paul. You always make us smile and even go crazy if it needs to but you keep us grounded and sane at the same time. I don’t know if we’re doing it right as your parents but since day 1 everything came naturally as it should and now that you’re all grown up I can sense that your tatty and I did a great job raising you up by the grace of God.

Happy 2nd Birthday Paul! I love you so much!

Discovering and learning

What I Learned from Being a Mum

Mummy Learnings…

I stumbled upon a parenting article that struck me to the core and I immediately had a mumma meltdown all because I have been too exhausted for the past few weeks.
I’ve been tempted to yell and roll over the floor to express my frustrations but looking at my son the thought of it made me feel so embarassed to myself.

Being a mum is overwhelming but rewarding at the same time. Time is fleeting indeed and though I am looking forward to the day that I can have uninterrupted sleep, coffee time, work and me time, I still have no plans of trading my duties being Paul’s mother.

All too soon there will be no more cartoon sounds on the background, toys rumbling and a child shouting “mommy”. He is fast growing up and will do things on his own without my help, all these stuff I will surely miss.

I may wish for my life back when it was just me and my husband but someday soon I will also wish for that time when we used to have a crying baby, diaper changing, breastfeeding moments, unbearable wake up calls, messy house and playtimes in our bedroom and on the floor.

I am making every moment count, giving more value to time and loving my family the best way I could. ME TIME? Nah! I can get plenty of those in the years to come. Right now all I want are little hugs, sweet smooches, wrestling matches and climbing sessions to save in our memory bank of love.

What I learned from being a mum:

1. Never get tired of capturing moments.
2. Spend time with your kids.

3. Play all day if you must.

4. Make memories.

5. Love more than you could.

6. Serve your family happily.

7. Don’t try to be perfect. They love you for who you are.

8. Hug and kiss a lot.

9. Cover them in prayer.

10. Put down the phone and talk.
