Changes in Life

These past few months have been filled with changes, life changes.

We moved house from Cebu City to Lapu-lapu City. My parents moved to Ilo-ilo City. Rocky resigned from his job of 9 years and pursued a work at home job just like me. Our little Paul have grown up fast and big from a calm little boy now to an active one! The list goes on…

I laughed and cried in between these changes but at the end of it all I know that changes in life are bound to happen. Too often these changes push us out of our comfort zone and it hurts, it can be painful, it’s not nice, it can be uncomfortable, agree? That’s the purpose of going out of your comfort zone, it’s meant to change things for the better, for your own good but what happens is we don’t like to go through the setbacks, we don’t want failures, we just want to get to our goal right away. Unfortunately, life is not like that. Life is now always easy. We don’t always get to the top just like that. There are no shortcuts.

Life is a series of unknown challenges and it’s funny how life can be such a big clown sometimes like the time when my nephew ran away with his girlfriend and my mom got admitted to the hospital. The moment you thought life is on your side, you take advantage of it and then BOOM! There are new set of surprises coming your way and it never ends, it doesn’t stop.  If only living life is easy but if it was easy, would I still call on to God? Would I still need his strength in me? Would I still hold on to his promises? It would have been easy but not fulfilling. I’m grateful for the challenges I face in my life everyday, it makes me draw strength from the ultimate source. I am nothing without God.

Through it all, I am just grateful that I have a wonderful and loving family and my God is bigger than all these challenges. Where would I be without you Lord? You are always good. 🙂

The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

Psalm 145: 18

Season of Giving

Christmas Time…

It’s the most wonderful time of the year again! Two more days till Christmas and I can feel the holiday cheer everywhere! People are busy (holiday rush) with parties, buying gifts, meeting up friends and so on. This is definitely my favorite season, I get to be with the entire family, I love buying presents, I don’t get tired looking at Christmas trees, lights and decors and not to mention the food! The endless partying made me gain a few extra pounds and speaking of fats, I need to lose them by 2017 (let me add that to my personal goals next year).

It’s the season of giving, we’ve been blessed by God tremendously and as our way of giving back, we had a little contest on Facebook.  Last December 11, my husband and I created a video announcing that we will be giving away one Starbucks Planner 2017. To win the planner all you need to do is to answer this question:

What is your greatest challenge this year and how did you turn that challenge into an opportunity for growth?

It was fun reading entries from people who joined. Deadline of entry submission is December 23, 2016. The winner will be announced on December 25, 2016.

Another activity we had this year was the shoebox project year 2 last December 18. This is an outreach program originally started by the Briges Foundation, founded by our Pastor Ian C. and his fiancee Nary. Last year, 100 kids were given gifts by sponsors and this year the numbers doubled. All thanks to the kind hearted, generous people who gave gifts to almost 200 kids this year.

A big surprise came the next day when I opened my Facebook account and saw a post of me and my husband on the Freeman Cebu newspaper front page cover. All I can say is, WOW Lord! It was only a matter of hours when I asked my husband about generosity and God answered my small humble request. God of Surprises indeed!

I hope you guys enjoy your Christmas and New Year with your family!

New Year, New Beginning

Hello 2016!

What I love about the new year is the feeling of starting all over again and closing the last page of a book to start with a new one. I started the year with so much positivity, hope and love. It’s good to be able to reflect on the previous year thanking God for all the answered prayers, goals achieved and blessings received.

Two words to describe my 2015: STUPENDOUSLY BLESSED

4 Things I would like to highlight in my 2015:

2015 was a year of abundance for us. I was blessed to work with several employers who were kind, considerate and generous. My husband, Rocky got a salary increase and was given the X-Factor Award for being excellent at work. We consider our jobs as blessings God has favorably given us! Through my online job I gained a lot of experiences, learned new things in terms of technology and in business, I made new connections abroad and earned 4x bigger than my office job. As a family we have enjoyed many things, went to places and had the time of our life (this is where point number 2 begins).

It’s a challenge to travel with a toddler moreso with an infant (the reason why we were not able to travel when Paul was less than a year old). When he was almost one year old we had the privilege of travelling and took this challenge on our shoulders. 2015 was indeed a year of family adventure for us from Oslob, Bohol, Leyte, Baguio and Bacolod. This year, we are looking forward for more considering that Paul is also a born traveller like us!

What can I say? Thank you sweet Jesus for the life you have given us! Waking up to a new morning everyday is already a blessing in itself. He has blessed me and my fam with good health, sound mind and strong bodies!

In 2015, we celebrated Paul’s first birthday a milestone we shared together with our family and friends and was one joyous celebration that Paul so highly deserved.

It was also a year of birthday surprises for me and my husband, one I will never forget and one that I will always cherish forever!

LIFEGROUP: After months of hiatus, I gathered the courage to lead my lifegroup and grateful I am today to have found not only new friends but sisters in Christ! We prayed together, worshipped God together and encouraged one another.

FRIENDS: I am also grateful for my TRAX friends because we always stay connected even if life has brought us to different directions. I think they’re the only friends I have left (next to my LEAR-PETC Nurses friends) after I left the corporate world. I’m glad that they could well relate to me whenever I share the downside of being a WAHM (working alone means no colleagues and being stuck in the 4 corner walls of our home). I am not complaining, in fact I love being at home with Paul.

FAMILY: My journey in life would’ve been so boring without my family. The support, love and care they’re giving me is overwhelming. My deep appreciation in life goes out to my parents for giving me a secure and comfortable life. Growing up, all I could ever think of are the wonderful memories I’ve gained because of them. My siblings, in-laws and the kiddos made it all the more fun and exciting. Glory to God!

ROCKY and PAUL: They are my greatest treasure! No amount of awards, rewards or achievements could come close to what I consider them in my life to be.

Rocky taught me how to love unconditionally, to serve joyfully without complaining, to forgive even the worst of all people, to laugh off my mistake and learn from them, to worship God even in the downest moment of my life and to move on, let go and let God! He made me appreciate who a Proverbs 31 woman is, he brought out the best in me, believed in me and pushed me to become excellent in all things. He made me laugh and cry at his jokes telling me not to take life seriously. Where would I be without him? I cannot imagine life not having my husband beside me in any given lifetime.

Paul is still a toddler but one should never underestimate what a toddler can do. He taught me to be more patient and by that I mean 100x more patient than usual, to take one day at a time and savour every moment, to laugh at petty things and cry only when it is necessary, to be a kid again not only by heart but in everything! He brought the little Kikik out from me and my happy childhood memories came flooding again! Paul taught me to watch my words and to be careful with my actions and reactions (he is watching my/our every move) and follows them by heart. He inspired me to pursue God all the more, to read books, listen to good music, be creative and write blogs so he could follow in my footsteps. This toddler may be small but he means the whole world to me!

2015 wasn’t all about good experiences and happy moments, there were certainly bad ones but that doesn’t cover up for all the good times we’ve had as a family. It was a well written year by God, a story worth remembering and for that I give Him all the glory!

Cheers to a New Year!🎉🎉🎉

Top 15 Things I Am Grateful to God in 2013

I was supposed to do this last year right before the year 2013 ends, however my time was kinda limited and I was already drowned with parties and my December calendar was full even before I knew it.

Some people already have their own list of ‘I thank God for’ and ‘I am grateful for…’ so here’s mine:

1. Our Firstborn

It was November 2, 2013 when we found out I was pregnant and our longing to have a little one has been granted at such a time when we are expecting it.

2. Healthy Pregnancy

Years ago, I read an article about the Jews praying for God to bless their wombs and the baby even if they’re not yet pregnant. I did just the same and it was only God’s supernatural power that brought life into my womb. Despite my pregnancy sickness, I am grateful enough that I have a healthy pregnancy.

3. New Home

From an all in one room, now we are living in our humble abode with 1 bedroom, a kitchen to master my cooking skills, a cute living room and our very own CR. What more can I ask for?

4. CDU Life groups and Church Family

In my 2013 goals, I wrote down new life groups at CDU… and it came to pass! Our ever growing church family in Cebu is also a great blessing for me.

5. Challenging Work

Yup. My work. I know I prayed for a challenging work in 2012 and God heard my plea to the extent that my character was tested too. Now, I’ve been working here for 1 year and 3 months and only the grace of God sustained me.

6. New Friends Met and Gained

Who wouldn’t love meeting new people and faces? The sanguine in me can easily relate to people and loves to be surrounded by people.

7. New Gadgets

Not that it matters, but I never thought I would be able to purchase iPad Mini and several phones and would give away one of my phone to my dad. The iPad mini was especially useful for hubby and me when we share the word of God.

8. Local Travels

It has and always will be my dream to travel the Philippine archipelago before I could travel the world.  Last year, I’ve been to Manila (thrice), Dumaguete (twice), Bohol and my hometown Bacolod. This year I am aiming to travel to Asian countries like Malaysia, Cambodia, Hongkong etc.

9. Seminars and Training’s

I will always cherish things that I’ve learned from seminars that helps enrich me as a person. When I graduated from college, I decided to myself that the learning shouldn’t stop from there. It must go on. I am looking forward to attend more training this year.

10. Family Bonding

It keeps getting better by the grace of God!

11. Extra Income

In 2013, I was given the opportunity to practice my entrepreneur skills and was able to sell vaccines and got a commission. (Claiming God’s promise that I have the ability to produce wealth!)

12. Weddings I Attended

In my blog, 2 years ago I mentioned that I really, really, really love weddings! A wedding reminds me that God will open the floodgates of heaven and pour out his blessings upon two people willing to tie the knot forever in Jesus name. I’ve been to a total of 5 weddings last year and was even invited to be the wedding singer in one.

13. Financial Breakthroughs

By faithfully giving my tithes and offering God showed me that He will truly provide for our daily needs. Before, it was so hard for me to give 10% of my income to the Lord. It took me courage to practice by diligently giving it. Soon enough, it became easy breezy.

14. Good Health

I always include this in my goal every single year. If there’s one thing precious for me it’s having a sound mind and body.

15. My God-given Lifetime Partner

I make myself fully aware that I am blessed by God for giving me a godly partner. My hubby is my joy! I will forever praise the Lord for granting my heart’s desire for a man like him years ago.

Praise God that I can say I finished strong last year and will start the year strong once again. I’m saying goodbye to 2013 and now saying hello to 2014!

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” Hebrews 12:1
